Program
Monica DeMack from the Gateway Battered Women's Shelter gave us an update. Our Club has supported the facilities in the past.
Verbal, physical, financial and mental are some of the forms of abuse cited by experts. 96% of victims are women.
The program helps women get out of bad relationships/marriages by offering the shelter and long-term facility. Special care is taken to keep the locations of the facilities secret to protect all concerned.
699 of 700 kids that come from troubled/abusive homes will be abusers themselves.
Gateway served over 1400 women last year and over 300 in their long-term facility.
She promised to keep us in the loop by getting our Club the newsletter, which always includes their "wish list."
Marbles
The number on one of Paul the Scooter's tickets was drawn and fellow Rotarian Jeff drew a clear marble. Next week's pot starts at $1013. Remember, that means since the blue marble was last drawn, $1013 has been added to our Foundation. Thanks to all you that continually purchase tickets in our Marble Game!
