Announcements

Mark Gale--Attended the District Membership seminar last weekend along with Jeff Piercy. He commented that 25-30 clubs were represented and that ours seems to have the most fun and camaraderie. He asked members to keep membership in their thoughts always and bring a friend or business contact to our meetings. He also needs old copies of "The Rotarian."

Tex--City of Centennial will have an explorative meeting next week to discuss the Southglenn Mall renewal project at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal church at Dry Creek and Clarkson

Dan R.--Mayor Randy Pye will kickoff his reelection at the Fox and Hound at Arapahoe and Holly tonight at 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Roxy--Speaker on November 1 will explain the referendum C&D.

Bob Slyter--Our clean-up at the Willow Creek open space will be on a weekend soon.

Tom B.--Our holiday party at Heritage Eagle Bend will be on December 10th. Keep your "traveling gifts" coming, as Jeff Piercy will be auctioning them off to raise money for our upcoming projects.

Jennifer--Will check to see if donations are still needed for the Hurricane refugees at Lowry.

Roxy--Participation for upcoming Corn Maze and Chili supper are sparse. Please contact her or Barbara M. if interested.

Happy Bucks

There were others--??

Byran introduced our speaker, Cathie Deegan, an Alzheimer's Assn. volunteer and long-term care consultant.

Highlights from the talk:

The differences between normal and abnormal forgetfulness. She passed out a list of them, such as forgetting where your keys are vs. forgetting you were even at a family reunion.

She enjoys giving this type of talk because it raises awareness of the disease and allows people to take steps with family members. She pointed possible ways to stave off Alzheimer's by exercising, healthy diet and stimulate your brain by learning something new every year. There is a helpline at 800-864-4404.

The marble pot is currently at $368 for the winner. Mark G. drew a clear marble. Bummer Mark!

Newsletter notes taken by "Slant Eyes"--Paul's own words. Thanks to my new dentist.
