Jennifer rang the bell impressively at 7:31.  Laurie had work conflicts that didn't allow her to run the meeting.

Announcements

• Kent introduced visiting Rotarian, Bill Ward from Bryan, TX.  Tom C. introduced his son, Hank and Dan H. had his son Jonathan with him as well. 
• Jennifer shared with us the new R>I> banner and let us know that Bill Boyd is our new International President. 
• Roxy gave a recap of the awards passed out at the Changing of the Guard party two weeks ago. 
• Vocation-Tex, for his continued work on the "State of the City."
• Club-Randy--for his work on the Invocation Book project.
• Intl-Dan R. for his work on Youth weekend and t-shirt design.
• Jennifer-Ave. of Service--for her work in all 4 avenues of service.
• Barb--4 way test award-for keeping us on point.
• Ben-Rookie of the Year-for jumping in on several projects and getting his blue badge so quickly.
• Today she present Dan H. with the Comm. Service award for his work with Denver Children's Home.
• Barb presented Roxy with her past-President's plaque, pin and gold badge.
• Jennifer gave several announcements from Mark Gale.  We are involved with Little tourism event again.  We need great participation on 9/9.
• Roxy explained the upcoming Macy's event. We will sell $10 tix for pre-opening sale.  We keep all money and Roxy will chair the event.  James will attend the kickoff meeting this month.
• Dan H. told us of the huge thanks from the Dugal's.  Our cash donation and King Soopers' certificates came at the right time, after leaving their apartment because of asbestos.
• Frank L. told of Mark G.'s arranged donation from the Embassy Suites kitchen for "Sox Place."
• Randy announced that this month's theme is ITALIAN for food donations to "Sox Place."  Next week those who don't bring food can donate money to buy 1 lb. hamburger that is a buck apiece at King Soopers.
• Jennifer wrapped the announcements by passing out flyers giving info about this year's PEACH SALE.  Fuel costs have raised the case price to $30.

Happy Bucks 

• Marc Gold gave a buck to announce that he is in charge of fellowship this year and solicited member's input.
• Jack gave $2 to celebrate a new grandson and healing from a recent triple hernia operation.
• Ken gave $3 to announce a new Club of only healthy people and that he will be gone to the Caribbean for two weeks.  TRAVEL GIFT?
• Paul gave $3, one for the obvious (scooting) and the others for Barb hosting the recent Changing of the Guard event and Randy's recovery.
• Tom C. was two bucks happy that his son Hank was here.
• Randy gave $5 in thanks for all the wonderful members that acknowledged his surgery, visited him, sent him a cookie bouquet, called him, etc.
• Roxy gave money for I didn't catch the reason.
• Dan H. for scooting and to celebrate Jonathan joining him.
• $6 given by Jennifer for the Best of the Best Attny. award, thanks to Roxy for her year and work and for Hugh not being present.
• Frank L. for I'm not sure. 

Program 

Our scholarship recipient Karli Wurpel spoke with us about her Community Service project.

She is planning a carnival to raise money and awareness for "Families First," a charity that helps with child abuse.  She showed us a video explaining that there are 19 cases reported a day and that Colorado is 3rd in the nation in abuse deaths.  The video also explained the different services offered and some personal comments by parents.

Karli is working with a small committee of Rotarians to plan the October 1st carnival.  The main fundraising aspect will be the adoption of pigs.  The unfinished ceramic pigs will be donated by The Crazy Merchant, along with the paints.  Children and their families from 6 area elementary schools will paint the pigs and take them home.  Families First will be in charge of the collection of the "Pig money."  The money will go to the Children's Center and the support phone line.  Karli has been involved with Families First for several years and hopes that community awareness will be a huge secondary benefit from this event.  We will need 100% participation from our Club. 

Marbles 

Karli drew Randy's ticket.  He donated back the $10 and drew a clear marble.  The pot sits at $27 and can only grow with your participation.
