Centennial Rotary Club Meeting Notes

For: Tue, January 23, 2007

Custodian--Jeff Piercy
Greeter--Jeff Hancock
Invocation--Randy
Pledge--Hank
Notetaker--Jennifer

President Laurie rang the bell at 7:31 a.m.

Announcements

Kent did his usual good job with the Rotary Minute, speaking about membership. He reminded us that it is everyone’s responsibility to help increase membership and also to help keep new members involved.

Info regarding the upcoming District Conference April 20-22 was available and registration forms are on the District website.

This year’s RI conference is in Salt Lake City and info was on the tables.

PDG Talee Crow will be our speaker on 2/20 and will educate us on the Foundation. Following up on that, both Jeff and Randy shared their feelings about the Quad District function on Friday, January 19th. RI President Boyd was incredible in his speech, sitting on a stool and seemingly having a conversation with the crowd. The event, which happens each year, is one NOT to be missed.

Jeff again spoke about the Foundation and the Penny Regiment. The District has some matching funds available to assist Rotarians in achieving their Paul Harris Fellow.

Kent asked for volunteers for the May 12 "Putting on the Green" fundraiser for Interfaith. Our Foundation usually pays the $1000, but Randy asked members, we need 5, to get some pledges on their own. Kent will be at the graduation of their child at UNC that day.

Ken H. said that 13 people from the Club had signed up for the Winter Park Ski Train. Please pay Ken the $44 directly.

Mark Gale brought a "very" cool walking stick as a traveling gift from his trip to Mexico.

Happy Bucks

  • Pres-Elect-Elect Hank gave a buck for leaving early.
  • Dr. Scooter for, what else?
  • Dan H. for leaving early.
  • Tom in thanks for Jeff taking on the Foundation with enthusiasm.
  • Jeff P. for the members who have embraced the Penny Regiment .
  • Randy gave two for the opportunity the Foundation members had to share with the Club the wonderful things we have accomplished in the last year.
  • Ken H. gave a buck for the Stock Show Border Collie, the smallest one, who was named "Loner."
  • Kent for his daughter Megan being named outstanding student and earning a $500 scholarship. Their son was just accepted at CSU.
  • Hugh, who was late, gave a grateful dollar for his wife bailing him out after he locked himself out of his car.
  • Frank gave a buck as his son is in town and is in the final stages of becoming a firefighter in Riverside, CA.

Program

The AGM of our 501C3 Foundation was chaired by Bryan Moog. Minutes of the meeting will be available on request from Randy and presented to the Club next January.

Marbles

Jennifer pulled the clear marble, what a bummer. Next week’s pot starts at $571 with 51 marbles left.
