Centennial Rotary General MeetingApril 10, 2007 Greeter--Dan H. AnnouncementsKent asked Ben to introduce the one guest, his friend Kyle Lahey, a mortgage person with First Magness. There was no Rotary Minute but Kent did take time to thank Tom Cycota for the tour of his bone and tissue company for the GSE team. (Understand Jeff cracked up the group through most of the tour) Kent also thanked Roxy for the up close and personal tour of Centennial Airport and the Cottrell’s for hosting the wonderful dinner for Club members and the GSE team. Laurie reminded us the May 1st meeting is off-site at the Inter-faith facility. Please bring donations of food, clothes etc. Because of the off-site on May, the Board deemed April 24 "Sox Place" donation day. Laurie passed around the sign-up sheet for the State of our City function next week. Jennifer said that 22 corporate tables have been sold and she implored members that haven’t signed up yet to do so! Jeff had info sheets regarding Project Cure on all the tables. Our volunteer night is the third Thursday of the month. Please contact Jeff or Jennifer for further details. Jeff also asked for portable sewing machines. He met a woman on his return flight from Mexico that is teaching poor Mexican nationals how to sew and thus make a living. Please let Jeff know immediately if you can help. Traveling GiftsHank two different trivets from Germany. Randy brought back hot sauce and two stone coasters from Florida and told of the two Clubs we donated Invocation Books to. When traveling and planning on making up, please take a Book with you. Happy Bucks
ProgramReggie Rivers, ex-Bronco and author. Reggie started off giving a Happy Buck, thanking Kyle for being Ben’s best friend and having taken Ben off his back. (Seems Reggie thought HE had been Ben’s best friend!) He apologized to Jeff for eating bacon, possibly one of Jeff’s relatives. (See, you shouldn’t miss meetings.) Was pleased to see Tom Cycota greeting like Norm at Cheers and saw his Diet Coke (and Rum) and mentioned that the 10 month’s in rehab didn’t work. Told Jen to see him after the meeting regarding Robert sewing her "small little nightee." Said something about Randy and invocations after eating. Reggie has a new book out, "My Wife’s Boyfriend and our Feud with the Highlands Ranch Homeowner’s Association." He actually lives in Washington Park and is pretty sure his wife doesn’t have a boyfriend. It is his fourth book and he read us 8 different passages/pages out of it. Many members let loose with full blown belly laughs. Three of the first ten new books he sold were to members of the Board of Directors from that HOA. Several members of our Club then shared their own stories regarding HOA’s. Reggie takes 10% of his book sales and puts it toward his foundation. It takes middle school students and awards $500 towards college. This year over $42,000 has been awarded. MarblesReggie drew Dr. Paul’s number. Jeff pocketed the automatic $10 and promptly drew a clear marble. Next week’s pot starts at $840 and a 1 in 31 chance.
