Centennial Rotary Meeting Notes for: 09-19-06

Invocation—James
Pledge—Jack
Greeter—Ken & Kent
Custodian—Paul
Notetaker—Jennifer

President Laurie rang the bell at 7:30

My apologies for not getting a bulletin out last week. The biggest thing that you that were absent missed was the thanks to all who worked their banouchies off at the Littleton street function. Mare Gale chaired the event and did a tremendous job. Pete was given some crazy award for his delivery ability and for dropping all kinds of cash all over the street. It was all recovered. No word on the amount we netted, but Pete announced that we grossed more than last year. Also thanks to those who brought their loved ones. Without them, we couldn’t have done as well. Congrats Rotarians!!

Program

Larry Donnithorne, formerly from West Point spoke on leadership and morality in business.

This is the first time I have been at a Centennial Club meeting where the room was silent during the talk and no one refilled their beverage container.

To write much about the talk would be unfair to Mr. Donnithorne, but he started comparing 5 CEO’s that are now facing “hard time” in prison and 5 others who have quietly led their companies to tremendous success, legally and morally.

He also spoke on “why should I be moral” and “how far should I go to sacrifice my own interest to what is right”?

He offered a book, cd or dvd that he produced after the meeting.

In over 18 years of being a Rotarian, one of the top programs I have ever heard. Another reason to be at Rotary every Tuesday.

Marbles

Hugh’s ticket number was drawn and he drew a clear marble. Pot carries over.
