Rotary Minute

Kent spoke briefly about the Foundation and the recent dinner.

Announcements

Ken Hope passed around the Winter Park Ski Train sign-up sheet. The scheduled day is March 2 and he has to firm up numbers soon. That weekend is when the Wells Fargo Cup is being held, so the train is filling up quickly.

Thursday will see another Board meeting at Greg’s at 7:10 a.m.

Randy announced nominations for the open slot on the Foundation Board closed and Ken Hope was confirmed for another term, unanimously.

Jenn shared with us that since the Super Bowl is over, take down your Christmas lights! She is weird sometimes.

Happy Bucks

  • Frank took Marc’s slot and wandered through the room snatching up money.
  • Hank thanked all for the Happy Birthday serenade at the Foundation dinner last Friday.
  • Ken gave money for the recent folks that have moved to Colorado with bad tires and front wheel drive. Some sarcasm in his voice.
  • Andres gave a buck for his happy commute.
  • Randy was just happy.
  • Paul donated $2, one for Frank’s return and the other for scooting.
  • Frank gave money for the great day and said it was a good time for new tires and 4 wheel drive.
  • Bill Eck gave money for having a warm house during winter.
  • Jenn continued the earlier sarcastic streak by mentioning the idiots that think 4 wheel drive helps them stop quicker.

Program

Bill Eck, a 19 year Rotarian and 5 year District Chair spoke on the Rotary International Foundation.

He started out with an unique exercise at each individual table. A sheet with 16 different squares with different questions was given to each member. Members took turns going around the table and answering those questions in a random fashion. It was very interesting at our table.

Bill then took answers from all of us and put them on a flip chart.

He then smoothly transitioned into an ask for each of us to either start or increase our giving to the Rotary Foundation. He passed out forms for either donations through our Club or directly, via auto checking deduction or credit card.

Marbles

Ken had his number drawn, but since he won last week, asked for another ticket to be drawn. Jennifer’s number was drawn and she pulled out a clear one.

Before ringing the "dismissal" bell, Jennifer announced that in an attempt to increase attendance, next week will be "Pelt Randy with Rotten Tomato" Tuesday.
