Program

Our speaker was Courtney Snowberger, Executive Director, Arapahoe Community College Foundation. Accompanying her was Bert Anden, President, Arapahoe Community College.

Courtney presented an overview of the college, emphasizing its mission to the community to be accessible, responsible, offering the opportunity of higher achievement, and diversity. The college was started in 1965. The current cost is approximately $3,500 yearly, including tuition, books and fees. Funding is always a challenge as Colorado is 48th in providing funding to higher education.

The college has a number of programs unique in the area including mortuary science, auto tech, and its event management activity. Other features include its Colorado Gallery of Art, a library open to the public, a fitness center, its Writer’s studio, and its corporate learning division. It also offers a wide variety of non credit course to the public.

Its foundation partners with donors and sponsors an annual luncheon recognizing both the scholarship winners and donors. The foundation endowment is currently at approximately $250,000. Friends of ACC partners with business and industry, alumni, and community members.

Following the conclusion of Courtney’s presentation, President Anden provided us more details about the strength of the college and the life long learning benefits that the college has provided to many individuals.

After the meeting was concluded, several members of our foundation met with Courtney with the intent that a meeting be held to explore how we can better spend our scholarship dollars.

Marbles

Ken drew a clear marble and the $722.00 pot continues to grow.
