Program

Lacy Beauman from the Partnership for Chronic Disease spoke about the goal of the Partnership which is to educate the public on the high costs of chronic diseases. Chronic disease is defined as any illness which has no cure. It includes cancer, heart disease, hypertension, stroke, mental disorders and pulmonary conditions. In Colorado alone the 2003 costs for treatment and reduced productivity were 16.5 billion dollars. Improvements in our national health care system are absolutely necessary to address the problem of chronic diseases. In Colorado a bipartisan coalition is in place to address health care and expand coverage. A spirited question and answer session concluded the presentation.

Marbles

Dr. Scooter had his number drawn. A clear marble was pulled in his name and the pot continues to grow over $1000.
