Announcements

Visiting Rotarian Susan Fenske--Denver Sky High Club (to be chartered this Sat.) was introduced. She in turn introduced her visitor, Cathy Smith who works with Susan. We also had Hank with two guests, his kid and Jill Seghetti. All were welcomed appropriately.

Rotary Minute by Kent covered the upcoming RI convention. Andres is the only one from our Club going and was asked by Randy to "watch the border." Andres said he would wear his green card on his suit coat. It was mentioned that the International is a great opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians from all over the world. Next year’s is in Birmingham, England, so make your plans now. The editor believes that a Canadian location is coming up soon too.

Susan Fenske shared information and an invitation to the Denver Sky High Club’s Charter night June 7th. It will be held at the Denver Press Club and include music, silent auction and lots of fun.

Laurie announced that we have new Club banners available. Please take one when you are traveling and MAKING UP!!!

Mark shared info regarding the June 14 event in Littleton. We will convene at 4 p.m. at the location Mark will advise us about. We are responsible for three booths that will sell both non and alcoholic beverages. We need all members and their friends and families to make this a fun, not arduous event. Please notify Mark as to your availability. We can share Rotary with prospective members as well.

Willow Spring Open Space clean-up went well. We received good comments from the people we encounter during our endeavor and had a blast at Mary and Randy’s place afterwards. We were grateful for the Pote’s hospitality and great food and drinks.

Joint Board Meeting at Greg Cottrell’s Thursday at 7:10 a.m. All are invited.

The District is matching funds for Paul Harris Fellowships. Please contact Charlie or Jenn for more info. This is the fund that Rotary used to start eliminating polio. Give this opportunity a good thought.

CHANGING OF THE GUARD----Barb will host this year’s party. Please attend and bring your significant other to salute Jenn and her Board on their tremendous year!!!!!!!!!!! The date is 6/28 and the time is on or around 6:30 p.m.

Happy Bucks

Presidential question--Who on his re-election day came in 3rd place? There were no guesses and the answer is; William Howard Taft, who only got 8% vs. Teddy R. Wilson won the election with a bunch.

  • Paul gave a buck for scooting.
  • Mary Alice gave cash because she spotted Dr. Paul mentioned in 5280 magazine as a top dentist in the Denver area.
  • Barbara for a good visit to the St. Louis area with her daughter visiting schools.
  • Visiting Rotarian Susan gave $2, one for her charter night and one for her friend Cathy visiting.
  • Randy for the potential new blood in the Club. (Was roundly criticized for his lack of PC) What else is new?! ed. note
  • Hank for all our guests.
  • Jenn basically did a ditto and apologized for missing the Saturday function.
  • Pete gave $2 for missing the clean-up and having his grandson over the weekend.

Program

Joe Foley, a volunteer with the American Cancer Society was our speaker.

He is a widower and spoke on all the programs ACS offers and gave information on how to get involved. He talked about the Relay for Life that is coming up and the fact that it is ACS’s largest fundraiser. He gave many details and if you had been here, you would have enjoyed a good program and we would have benefited from your involvement in today’s meeting.

Marbles

This announcement is shrouded in both BLACK and EXCITEMENT!! Barb had her ticket drawn and you guessed it, cashed in for over a grand by drawing Big Blue. Congratulations Barb!!!
