Centennial Rotary General MeetingOn Tuesday, June 10, 2008 Greeter-???????????? Jenn rang the bell late, but she is a short-timer. AnnouncementsKent--Introduced Cliff, honorary member, who introduced his guest, Aaron Hurst. He is looking into Rotary as his choice for a service club. Rotary Minute--Given or "struggled through" by Kent. He "discussed" Rotary Fellowship Month and gave several examples. Mark Gale discussed this weekend’s event, Wild on Littleton and the lack of Rotary volunteers. We have three booths and the Chamber has asked us to also sell hot dogs. Mark led a spirited discussion on the pros and cons. Decision will be made later today. Ben is responsible for taking the Rotary information and Jenn has the Rotary banners. The event runs from 6-10 p.m. Do not forget the Changing of the Guard, hosted by Barb on June 28th. Charlie presented Jeff Piercy with a Paul Harris Fellowship for his son, Matthew J. Charlie then encouraged other members to take advantage of the District’s offer to double donations to the Foundation through June 14th. He had done an excellent job as Foundation Chair this year. Happy Bucks
ProgramJames Roger from the Aurora Club shared details on a recently completed water project co-sponsored by his Club and 6 others in the District. The Peruvian Club sponsoring on the other end was Trujillo Norte. It is located in San Leon, Peru and cost approximately $50,000. The idea hatched from the Engineers without Borders chapter out of Boulder. The freshly drilled well found enough water to supply four villages, although there are no nearby villages to share in the clean water. The Aurora Club hopes to sponsor other projects to take advantage of the newly found aquifer that they feel lies at the foot of the Andes. He asked for a member to sit on a committee to explore the possibility of new projects. MarblesJim drew his own ticket. He was embarrassed, but didn’t return the $10 as suggested by Randy. Thankfully he drew two clear marbles. The rules have changed and each week the person who’s ticket is drawn will get to draw twice. The project brought water.
